Six against one

Revolution was in the air on the day of the Summer Sun Celebration in Ponyville. The common people had enough of the tyrant Celestias reign and the Canterlot elite looking down on them. They rallied behind the rulers sister Luna, who had just been freed from prison where she had suffered for several years because of a minor argument with her sister.

Luna held a speech before the cheering crowd, and the metaphorical chant "The night shall last forever" was heard everywhere, when a messenger arrived with a letter from the monarch. To settle this conflict and prevent unnecessary bloodshed, Celestia suggested a duel between the royal sisters at the old castle in the Everfree Forest. Luna also wasn't eager for open war, so she agreed, donned her magical armor named "Nightmare Moon" and left for the castle.

But Celestia betrayed her. She never showed up, instead she sent a team of six elite warriors called the "Mane Six", armed with a powerful magical weapon. Luna never stood a chance and got captured. To appease the masses, Luna only had to publically pledge loyalty to her sister and was given minor duties at the royal court, standing on a balcony and "keeping watch during the night" or sitting on the ground next to her sisters throne. The Mane Six were relocated to the center of the revolution in Ponyville to suppress any new threads to the crown.

Soon the ministry of propaganda spread a story about an evil creature named Nightmare Moon who has been stopped heroically by the Mane Six to save Equestria. The real story has been suppressed by ruthless propaganda, and there aren't many ponies left who know what really happened. After all, history is always written by the victors.

Just had the idea of reversing this scene, then came up with the little story later. My first time doing shadows like this, and it looks really good in my opinion.
I had so much fun doing the evil faces and poses Twilight looks like a hyena, Rarity kinda looks like Cartman.

Rainbow Dash's wings were supposed to look intimidating, but they turned out kind of "fluffy", and I wanted to make Nightmare Moons mane glow, but then I settled for the "shadows over her" instead. Can't have everything.
